The true chevy van rolled of the assembly line in nineteen sixty four. It idea was taken from the Volkswagen
Transporter, having the engine in the rear and it inspired the Chevrolet Corvair Greenbriar. The new and rebuilt
Chevy van answered the problem of people wanting to be able to carry more passengers.
Chevy conversion vans are regular full sized vans; they are then taken and converted into ‘luxury’ vans. Some
are equipped with beds, sinks, custom paint jobs and cabinets. Some say the Chevy conversion vans are nothing more
than affordable trailers. You can even put in a bathroom, kitchen, a dining and living room. Chevy conversion vans
are a lot better on gas than an RV. They also are known to have much better handling and easy to park.
If one has a regular Chevy van, with only seven seats for seven passengers, no problem, the Chevy conversion van
has nine seats. Many people like them because they can carry a soccer team or the Girl Scout troupe with ease.
Chevy conversion vans also have mobility vans that are very well equipped with accessories that will make the
wheelchair easier to get in and out of the van. They also come with handicap lifts along with a number of other
accessories. Chevy conversion vans that are made for handicapped have a side cargo door and rear left doors. Many
car dealerships will order custom made Chevy conversion vans for specific customers for their specific needs.
Many people do not realize the many uses for a Chevy conversion van has. They can carry goods or people. Look at
the airport, there are Chevy conversion vans that are used as the shuttles. Many Post office mail trucks are chevy
conversion vans. Many buy them for their small businesses, such as pest control, bottled water carries. Some are
even refrigerated. Most have the engine right under the passenger cab.
Some will buy Chevy conversion vans and revamp them sort of speak. They will customize it to their own
specifications. Some will still have the original four point three liter Vortec V6 engine. They sometimes will
switch it out to the Chevrolet 350 engine. The Astro Chevy conversion vans are still popular as an off road or for
camping nuts. They like them because of the passenger space, all wheel drive, optional locking differential for the
rear axle and the powerful drive train. Also the suspension can be lifted up for larger tires. As the Astro is no
longer being made, many people will still try and find them.
So whether buying a Chevy conversion van for work or pleasure, they will be your answer to many problems of
carrying a lot of people or using it to transport items that would not fit in a car. Since the popularity of the
Chevy conversion vans took off, the prices have gone up and up. But this does not seem to affect many people as
they want or need these vans for their everyday lives.
